Durham Regional Police say they have responded to 11 overdoses since Thursday involving cocaine, heroin, or fentanyl.
One of the 11 overdoses was fatal. Lab testing results have found that the drugs contained some mix with fentanyl and a possible other drug.
Several people were saved by officers, as Durham police now carry Narcan—an agent that is sprayed up the nose of someone who is overdosing to save their life.
Police say the sheer number of overdoses is "unusually high."
Police have also warned citizens to not mix illegal and prescription drugs, according to CP24.
