Facebook communications manager implicated in Cuomo cover-up scandal

The New York Post’s report highlights that current Facebook employee Dani Lever left Cuomo’s employ in August 2020 to join the social media giant as a communications manager.

The result from the months-long AG report into the activities of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is that state and federal officials demand he resign from office.

It was at the end of last year the Lever blurred the lines of what her position was by helping coordinate a payback campaign against one of Cuomo’s accusers.

For context, besides sexual harassment claims, and additional charge against Andrew Cuomo is that the AG report found his office leaked confidential files about Lindsey Boylan in the aftermath of her publicly accusing the Governor of that misconduct.

From page 108 of the PDF:

“Mr. Azzopardi also sent the Confidential Files to Ed McKinley of the Times Union and David Caruso of the Associated Press, among others, on the same day. Earlier on December 13, Mr. Azzopardi had sent the Confidential Files to former Executive Chamber staff, Josh Vlasto, Mr. Bamberger, Ms. Lever, and Steve Cohen. At the direction of Ms. DeRosa or Mr. Azzopardi, Mr. Bamberger and Ms. Lever coordinated with some of the reporters who received the documents to let them know that the Executive Chamber would be sending them.”

That was just the start. In the days that followed the accusation, Cuomo’s people had drafted a letter that’d publicly smear Lindsey Boylan by including complaints from her personnel file, in addition to say Boylan was colluding with Trump supporters to push an agenda.

Dani Lever declined to sign her name to the letter on the grounds of it being “victim shaming.” However, she did support in defending Cuomo’s honor by disputing Boylan’s claim that the governor wanted to play “strip poker” together on a 2017 jet trip.

The Post managed to reach Dani Lever by phone. But she told them that she couldn’t talk because she had a meeting, and then never followed up. It’s the same sort of approach at the moment that other prominent people connected to the fallout of the New York Governor’s office.

Last night, CNN’s Don Lemon went into the story immediately after Chris Cuomo handed off the broadcast to him. This as the AG report highlighted the involvement of Chris in helping his politician brother contend with the situation earlier on this year.
