A police source told CP24 that authorities are investigating a deadly Sunday shooting in a Scarborough LCBO parking lot which may have been caused by dispute over social distancing.

On Sunday around 5:30 pm, police were alerted of a shooting in the Danforth and Victoria Park Avenue Area.

Police arrived at the scene to find a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The man was sent from the LCBO parking lot to hospital, where he later died. He has yet to be publicly identified.

A silver Honda Civic was later stopped by police about 1.5 kilometers from the LCBO where the shooting took place. This was after witnesses told them that they saw three people flee the scene in the civic.

Police took the three suspects into custody, however it is not known at the time if they are facing charges.

CP24 heard from a witness that a dispute over social distancing took place inside the liquor store before continuing outside. Shortly after, shots were heard.

However, it was yet to be confirmed by homicide detectives if the dispute was in fact what was motivating the deadly shooting.

Police are at the scene reviewing surveillance video and collecting evidence. They found a knife but are unsure how it is connected to the shooting. Officers have not said if they've located the gun used in the shooting.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators are asked to contact the Toronto Police Service's homicide unit.
