The Tampa Bay man seen carrying Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi's lectern through the Capitol building on Wednesday has reportedly been charged with three federal crimes, WFLA reports.
Adam Johnson, 36, has been identified as the man captured smiling and waving while holding Pelosi's lectern in a photograph of the riots on Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol. Johnson is reportedly a father of five and is married.
Johnson was arrested and booked in the Pinellas County Jail at around 9 p.m. Friday evening, according to an arrest report.
He faces charges of one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, one count of theft of government property, and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to The U.S. Department of Justice.
An acquaintance of Johnson, Allan Mestel, reported Johnson's identity to the FBI after recognizing him in the photo of the capitol rioters.
"I felt a little disassociated for a minute. It was almost like, it was surreal. I mean it was surreal. I wasn’t surprised, but I was shocked," Mestel said.
"Couldn’t believe it, the fact that I recognize somebody from our hometown, was, I was floored," he continued.
