The Ford government is planning on spending $35 million dollars to hire more teachers and purchase new equipment for schools. This money will be directed to areas which are suffering the most from COVID, such as Toronto, Peel Region, Ottawa and York Region.
Premier Ford said on Monday that the funding would go towards, "more physical distancing, smaller classrooms and provide more resources for remote learning."
More than $1.3 billion has already been pledged for schools across the province dealing with COVID-19. $381 million is coming from the federal government and close to $500 million coming from school boards' existing reserve funds, according to CP24.
