Ontario Premier Doug Ford will meet with wildfire evacuees following calls on the province of Ontario from First Nations leaders affected by wildfires.
According to CP24, Ford went to Thunder Bay to speak with First Nations leaders and to declare a state of emergency over the wildfire situation. Along with Indigenous Affairs Minister Greg Rickford, Ford met with wildfire evacuees at a hotel in the city.
Thousands have been evacuated from First Nations communities in the province of Ontario due to an aggressive wildfire season.
Officials have stated this week that the amount of wildfires in Ontario had almost doubled the 10-year average.
Additionally, Ford is set to visit the command centre for Ontario's response to the wildfires.
