Georgia Republicans double the number of poll watchers to 8,000 for Senate runoff election
Georgia Republicans have doubled the number of poll watching volunteers in an effort to ensure the integrity of the high stakes runoff election set for Jan. 5.
Georgia Republicans have doubled the number of poll watching volunteers in an effort to ensure the integrity of the high stakes runoff election set for Jan. 5. Some 8,000 volunteers will participate as poll watchers during the Georgia runoff, Fox News reported.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee, the Republican National Committee, the Georgia Republican Party and Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue's campaigns, have joined together to create the "largest and most aggressive ballot security and voter integrity operation in state history," officials told Fox News.
The 8,000 poll watchers for election day will reportedly double the amount of poll watchers recruited during the state's two-and-a-half-week long, early, in-person voting period.
"Georgians deserve total confidence in the fairness and accuracy of our state's elections, and we're thankful to the thousands of volunteers who will ensure that these runoffs are safe, secure, and that every legal vote is counted," Sens. Loeffler and Perdue said in a joint statement.
"Georgia Republicans have already mobilized the most robust ground game and poll watching operation in the state's history and are fully prepared to make certain that the integrity of next week's elections will not be cast under a shadow of doubt. Everything is on the line on Election Day – no Georgian should have to question the outcomes," the statement continued.
The measure to ensure electoral integrity comes following repeated allegations that the 2020 general election was fraudulent, as more pieces of evidence seemingly supportive of such a claim are uncovered and presented by the Trump legal team.
