The DSA endorsed a slew of candidates for House races across the US.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) backed a slew of different candidates for office ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Some have won their primaries while others didn't make the cut. The following are candidates are those in upcoming primaries to watch before the general midterm elections take place in November.
Florida
In Florida, House District 4 is up for grabs, and the Democrat primary is between DSA-endorsed Brit Robinson, Michael Kirwan, and LaShonda Holloway. The primary election is scheduled to take place on August 18. The latest polls from the primary race show Holloway with a +30 lead at 41 percent, 11 percent for Kirwan, and 4 percent for the DSA-endorsed candidate.
Additionally, Oliver Larkin is running for Florida's 23rd House District in a challenge to moderate Democrat incumbent Jared Moskowitz. Larkin wants a $25 per hour minimum wage and Medicare for all. He has called for Moskowitz to demand that ICE be abolished. Polling, however, shows that Moskowitz has a commanding lead over the socialist challenger, per Florida Politics.
Michigan
Although not endorsed the DSA, far-left candidate Abdul El-Sayed gets an honorable mention. He is running against more moderate Democrat Haley Stevens, who has Governor Gretchen Whitmer's endorsement. El-Sayed has been endorsed by every member of the progressive caucus known in the House of Representatives known as “The Squad,” which includes Reps. Alexandria Ocazio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Summer Lee, Delia Ramirez, and Greg Casar. Some current and former members of the congressional group have affiliations with the DSA. However, El-Sayed has attempted to distance himself from the group as he is attempting to appeal more to moderate in the swing state election. Critics have also brought into question El-Sayed's connections to people around him being to linked to Islamic groups, such as his father-in-law who a leader of a Muslim Brotherhood group is. The primary for the Democrat race for Senate will take place August 4. He would be the first Muslim elected to that legislative body.

The winner of the August 4 primary will take on incumbent Congressman Jack Burgum.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who is the incumbent congresswoman in Michigan’s 12th Congressional District, has been endorsed by the DSA, and will likely clinch the nomination.
In what is expected to be a competitive primary race for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, DSA-endorsed Donavan McKinney is running to unseat Rep. Shri Thanedar. The latest poll in that race shows Thanedar leading McKinney by just 4 points with 46 percent to 42 percent and 13 percent undecided.
Former Rep. Cori Bush, who lost her seat in the last election cycle, is back and working to challenge Rep. Wesley Bell, who replaced her in their last contest. Bush has been endorsed by the DSA and it is expected to be a competitive race. The primary will be taking place on August 4 and the latest poll showed the Bell has a 4-point advantage over Bush.
DSA-endorsed candidate Hartzell Gray is running in Missouri’s 4th Congressional District in an attempt to unseat the Republican in office. Gray is running a wide field of Democrat candidates, including Jeanettte Cass, Jordan Herrera, Randy Miller, and Ashley Rogers.

And for the Wisconsin gubernatorial race, DSA-endorsed Francesca Hong is the front runner for the primary. She has previously called to abolish the police as well as the Senate but has recanted those two positions. Hong still says that she wants to abolish ICE. Hong is running against Democrat candidates Joel Brennan, David Crowley, and Kelda Roys in the primary ahead of the general. Hong's candidacy has drawn wider scrutiny over the last week, as it has also been revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when she was in high school. Hong has also said that that a Culver's trip gave her an "anxiety attack" because of "white people."
