On Thursday, House Republicans conducting an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden ramped up their investigation into the Biden family, issuing three subpoenas for Hunter and his uncle James' business and personal bank records.
The documents will be provided to the House Oversight, Judiciary, and Ways and Means Committees as they investigate Joe Biden's alleged used his position as Vice President during the Obama administration to influence foreign policy to benefit Hunter Biden's business interests, which then funneled money into the family accounts.
In a press release announcing the subpoenas, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer vowed to "follow the money to determine whether President Biden’s involvement in his family’s corrupt business schemes makes him compromised and threatens our national security."
"Bank records don't lie," he continued, adding that, "coupled with witness testimony, they reveal that Joe Biden abused his public office for his family's financial gain."
Comer explained that financial records already obtained by House Republicans have revealed "a pattern where the Bidens sold access to Joe Biden around the world to enrich the Biden family."
"It has become clear that whether it was lunches, phone calls, White House meetings, or official foreign trips, Hunter Biden cashed in by arranging access to his father," House Ways and Means Committe Chairman Jason Smith added.
"While top Biden officials, Hunter's lawyers, and congressional Democrats have offered little more than disinformation and lies, these bank records will bring us closer to the truth. Issuing these subpoenas is an appropriate – and necessary – step to following the facts wherever they lead, and may shed light on the $24 million the Biden family has received in exchange for selling their family 'brand' as part of a global influence peddling scheme."
The first hearing of the impeachment inquiry launched against President Biden to see if he "abused his federal office to enrich his family and conceal his and/or his family's misconduct" was on Thursday.
