Hydro One crews have been working non-stop to restore power to hundreds thousands of households following a strong and damaging wind storm that cut power to people across Ontario.
Hydro One is reporting the company stated that 238,000 homes and businesses remain without power, after they were hit with winds topping 100 km/h on Sunday. Hydro One put out a note on their website stating that some people might only get their power back Monday afternoon or evening.
The widespread outage has affected people from Windsor to Sudbury and in Ottawa. It was caused by trees and branches falling onto power lines, in some places, those fallen power lines blocked roads.
While the winds have calmed in many places, wind warnings from Environment Canada are still in place in the southern Niagara Region, as well as the Parry Sound, Muskoka and Kingston.
