Indianapolis Uber driver admits to rape, murder of passenger Chanti Dixon

Valadez admitted to killing Dixon after she called the rideshare to take her home from the Indianapolis club where she worked. He admitted to shooting and killing her after hearing her insult his body as he raped her, and then tried to rape her corpse after dragging it out of the car, across a concrete barrier and into a grassy clearing near a school bus stop, the Daily Mail reported. When relatives didn't hear from Dixon, they tracked down her phone and discovered her body, which was left near the home that she had just moved into days earlier with her two children.

“This is a family's worst nightmare,” Indianapolis Police Assistant Chief Catherine Cummings told a press conference on Wednesday. “We're disgusted.” Police think Dixon had previously received a ride from Valadez before the homicide occurred.

The Uber driver initially attempted to cover his tracks by claiming he had arrived to pick up Dixon but that someone else had shot her in the thigh while attempting a robbery and that Dixon had fled the scene. “He also said that he had cleaned the blood out of his car,” according to police.

Police arrested Valadez after searching his car and finding a gun and brought him in into the station for questioning, where he “told two different stories” about the fate of Dixon, until finally admitting to raping and shooting her in the head when she mocked his 5’6”, 215 pound frame.

“I keep waiting for her to walk through that door, but I know she won't,” her mother Rise Dixon told WRTV. “Don't let what happened to her diminish what she put out in the world.”

“She'd always be like, 'Ma, you my best friend' and I'm like, 'Girl, yeah I know and you're my best friend.’”
