Pro-Palestinian activists called the event a "war crime" as a video showed the terrorist lying on the ground after being shot, surrounded by Border Police officers before one of them fired the shot that ultimately killed the terrorist.
Experts told The Post Millennial that often times law enforcement responders are trained to assume a terrorist attacker is wired with a bomb, and that the initial attack is an effort to lure in more before detonating the explosives.
According to local media outlets, the Israeli Defense Forces arrested multiple people connected with Salima on Sunday morning, including his brother and two men from Ramallah. They also arrested the person who drove Salima into Jerusalem on Saturday night, a man in his mid-40’s, who also potentially aided the terrorist in the assault.
Aida Touma-Sliman and Ofer Cassif, Joint List MKs, criticized the officers, calling it a "execution." Cassif called it a "...blatant war crime."
During rioting following the terrorist attack, around 30 Palestinians were injured according to N12.
Amir Cohen, a Border Police commander, said that he would be giving his "full backing" to the officers involved, saying, "The officers acted resolutely, ending the incident by preventing a larger attack on both civilians and officers."
Similar attacks have been taking place over the past few weeks, including the most notable in which two Palestinian terrorists, one dressed as an Ultra-Orthodox Jew, went into the Arab market in the Old City with a knife and sub-machine gun, killed one person and injuring several others.
Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Naftali Bennet, have expressed hope that the situation will de-escalate soon.
