Journalist Owen Shroyer, who reported to federal prison on October 24 for a 60-day sentence, will remain in solitary confinement until November 28.
"UPDATE: Owen will remain in solitary confinement until 11/28 at the earliest. At that time his normal privileges will be reinstated. For now he is only able to communicate via mail. Despite 23 hours a day of lockdown, he remains in good spirits," Shroyer’s X account stated on Thursday morning.

Shroyer was initially placed in solitary confinement when he reported to FCI Oakdale prison. He remained there for around a week as part of the facility’s Covid protocol, and was released.
Shroyer was placed back into solitary confinement just days later, after calling from inside the prison to deliver a message to his followers and having audio of that conversation posted to his X account.
In the phone call, Shroyer expressed his gratitude for the letters that have come in for him, saying "I can’t tell you how much they mean to me."
"My life on the outside of the inside begins today," Shroyer said, noting that it had been sunny the entire time he was in solitary confinement but the weather turned to cold and rain the minute he was let out. Despite this, the weather felt "probably just as refreshing as the sun would have felt."
Shroyer said that he hoped to host a radio show from inside the federal prison.
Shroyer was sentenced to 60 days in prison in response to being on Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021. He did not enter the building, but was said to have violated a previous deferred prosecution agreement that forbade the journalist from using "loud, threatening, or abusive language, or to engage in any disorderly or disruptive conduct, at any place upon the United States Capitol Grounds."
