Jim Jordan demands Biden’s Justice Department stop all ‘politically sensitive’ investigations until changes are made

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan called on Congress in a letter to use the "power of the purse" to halt federal funding of investigations into political figures and their family members. Other measures were proposed to rein in federal agencies.
In a letter to the House Appropriations Committee, Jordan laid out a plan to curb the spending of "out-of-control federal agencies" like the Federal Bureau of Investigation, DOJ, and Homeland Security.

The use of funds are to be reined in for several reasons, Jordan said. He called the "law enforcement" agencies, such as the DOJ and FBI, "abusive" as a result of discovering "startling testimony about egregious abuses, misallocation of federal law-enforcement resources, and misconduct" in different departments. This comes as IRS and FBI whistleblowers have revealed alleged instances of politcally motivated investigations, or instances where political perspective played a role choosing who or what to investigate.
"Freedom of Speech" was also a concern brought up in the letter. Jordan cited how "federal agencies collude with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech" as a reason to halt the funding until further policies are in place.
Besides First Amendment freedom of speech protections, the "Second Amendment" was also of concern whereas Jordan saw that it was necessary to "examin[e] the Biden Administration’s attacks on fundamental Second Amendment rights at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives."
This is after several recent hearings from the Judiciary Committee that have shown there was poor oversight from the agencies during politically-related investigations. The Twitter files also revealed collusion between federal agencies and employees at Twitter regarding the Hunter Biden Laptop story from the New York Post.
Other instances of freedoms being violated and abuses of power were also referenced. The letter stated that these "proposals are just a beginning" of what is to come regarding the limitations and funding of the federal agency bodies.
The letter ends saying that Congress can utilize the "power of the purse" to "ensure that the federal agencies are working for the people" of the United States.
