A New York City jogger reportedly discovered a horrifying scene while out for a run Monday afternoon.
While running on the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge around 12:45 p.m. the jogger came across a human torso which was missing legs, arms and a head, the Daily Mail reports. First responders brought the remains to shore.
NYPD officers failed to find additional body parts in the water near the discovery site. The remains consisted of a torso and one leg, with the other leg, two arms and the head unfound.
Investigators are still working to identify the who the male torso belongs to and determine a cause of death.
The body had been in the water for quite some time and had experienced substantial decomposition, authorities say. It is unknown if the missing body parts were severed or torn off during decomposition.
