Katie Telford implicated in political pressure SNC-Lavalin scandal

The former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Gerald Butts and chief of staff, Katie Telford spoke to Jessica Prince, Wilson-Raybould's own chief of staff about the Montreal company.

The Prime Minister has yet to state what the content of the conversation was.

“I can’t get into any actual details of the conversation itself,” said a spokesman for the Prime Minister Cameron Ahmad.

“Any conversations that were had, whether it was this one or any of the other ones that have been referenced, all fall under the category of what the prime minister has described and, frankly, what the clerk described as appropriate conversations where everything was discussed in a proper way.”

In the chain of command and seniority, Jessice Prince answers to Katie Telford, who answers to the Prime Minister.

The conversation has been singled out as being at the heart of the SNC-Lavalin political interference allegations.

The former Justice Minister, Jody Wilson-Raybould is set to testify on the affair next week.

The conversation took place only a day before the Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick called in on the Justice Minister to check in on the SNC-Lavalin case.

Wernick has since delivered a statement before the Justice Committee saying he feels afraid that somebody might get shot during the federal election because of the climate around SNC-Lavalin.

“I can tell you my view very firmly is that they were entirely appropriate, lawful, legal. I’m prepared to submit to the judgment of the ethics commissioner on that,” said Wernick about the conversations.
