A man who has garnered a reputation for drunk driving has been slapped with a 15-year prison sentence by a Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge, according to CTV News.
Terry Lee Naugle, 62, has pleaded guilty to a total of eight counts in connection with three separate drunk driving incidents between July 2019 and February 2020.
CTV News reported that "Justice Jamie Campbell accepted a joint sentencing recommendation submitted by the Crown and the defence during a hearing today in Halifax," with Campbell adding that the sentence was appropriate considering that Naugle has 71 prior convictions for a host of offences.
The judge noted that Naugle's record is "appalling," noting that he should have to spend a "very long time in jail" even though Naugle has lung cancer and would likely not live past his sentence.
