A Moose Jaw resident was fined $2,800 by police, after hosting a what has been termed a "large gathering" of more than 15 people. Moose Jaw Police said it received the complaint about the gathering of 15 plus people at a residence on Friday evening.
According to Saskatchewan's Public Health Order, the maximum limit for private gatherings is currently 15 people. Police say when they arrived, they found the gathering was well over the limit and the person responsible was fined $2,800, according to CTV News.
This is not the first time there has been pricey fines given out in relation to COVID. In Ontario, 59 residents faced fines of up to $100,000 for breaking COVID restrictions.
Provincial governments have faced criticism from residents as these fines are hurting people during a time of financial struggle in the country. Provincial governments, however, have banned gatherings, such as the ban in Saskatchewan that prohibits more than 15 people from gathering together at once.
