Man and woman found dead at Salt Spring Island home in BC

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit was called to the scene of a Fulford-Ganges Road home in the early evening.

At that time, a 48-year-old man was found dead, and a 41-year-old woman with serious injuries was also discovered. She later died from those injuries.

Those who died were identified as John and Jen Quesnel, and their next of kind have been made aware of their passing.

Local neighbours were visibly upset and a bouquet of flowers has been placed outside the property where the deaths occurred.

Mickey McLeod, who knows the family, said that the deaths of the Quesnels was "tragic," and said that both John and Jen were "well respected in the community and anything like this hits really hard."

"It's still a little unbelievable," McLeod said. He also said that the couple had three sons.

The home has been taped off by police so that the BC Coroners Service may conduct their investigation into what happened.

In a statement, RCMP Cpl. Chris Manseau said that "Police are not looking for suspects and no charges are anticipated." He noted that there was no additional danger to the public.

A large part of the property has also been taped off, including what looks like a wooden-fenced pen outside of the home. The fenced off area has been covered by a large white tent while three forensic officers began investigating the area.

RCMP are expected to release more details.
