Man brutally run down by carjacker after trying to stop vehicle theft in North Carolina

The Daily Mail reported that last month, 38-year-old Jonathan Adam Lecompte was killed after he was mowed down by a stolen vehicle outside of a Burger King in Lumberton, North Carolina after he fired four shots at a carjacker.

According to police, 28-year-old Ricky Alex Driggers stole a work truck and then plowed into Lecompte in an impact so severe that the victim was thrown into the air.

Viral footage of the incident showed Lecompte aiming a gun at Driggers before he was hit by the truck.

Lecompte said to Driggers, “Don't get in the godd*mn truck fool,” as he began firing at Driggers. Lecompte fired four shots before Driggers backed the vehicle away from him and Lecompte can be heard on the video shouting, “Get out the way, he is going to run into us.”

Lecompte and an unidentified man can be seen in the video running across the road away from the truck before impact.

Lecompte was hurled into the air and witnesses can be heard screaming on the video, while some ran over to Lecompte’s lifeless body.

Driggers fled the scene, but Lumberton Police officers found him on the highway after he wrecked the truck.

Driggers has been charged with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted common law robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, and felony fleeing to elude.

He is being held in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
