Minneapolis City Council candidate joins crowd in chasing elderly man after blocking highway with anti-Israel mob

Metzger said in the video, which was posted to his Instagram, "I released a video yesterday of an old man driving through a peaceful protest. The man gets out of his vehicle with a knife."

Metzger played video of the elderly man getting out of his vehicle, placing a hand on his door as he briefly exited his vehicle that held a knife as the mob surrounded him.

"Attacking people that are using their First Amendment right to stand with Palestine. The protestors were shocked and tried to push him back into his car so that they would not be hurt, which is when the man literally drives through hundreds of peaceful protestors."

Video from the incident shows members of the mob attempting to rip the man out of his vehicle after he returned to the inside of it, and attempting to break the windows of his car.

Metzger said his video that he filmed was taken after the man broke free from the first mob of people, with members of the group chasing him down the street to another barricade.

The city council candidate said that he has received "over 500 hate-filled emails as well as multiple death threats. This is what happens when you stand against injustice and we cannot be scared into hiding. We cannot allow those so filled with hate to scare us from standing for what we know is right."

"Free Palestine," he concluded, holding up a fist.

The original story follows below.

A confused elderly man drove through an anti-Israel protest in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sunday evening after the group blocked off streets near Loring Park, with Minneapolis City Council candidate Zach Metzger filming the mob attacking the man and instructing his followers to hunt him down.

Metzger held the camera up to the man's car, showing the man in distress and crying in his vehicle, as the mob surrounded him and one person jumped and kicked his window. He was eventually able to free himself from the mob, driving back towards the first group then turning as the mob continued to chase him.

The Democrat candidate is campaigning on causes like police reform and climate justice, and has made pro-Palestinian posts since Hamas’ attacks against Israel.

"Free Palestine," he wrote in one post from Sunday, noting the location of the street blockade.

The man was filmed stopped along with several other cars on the road. He briefly exited his vehicle as the crowd swarmed him, then re-entered his car when it started moving forward.

The violent mob of agitators were seen attempting to smash out his windows with their hands and trying to pull the man from his car as he moved to get around the vehicles blocking the path.

The man was eventually able to move through the blockade of cars, and traveled down to the next intersection, which was also blocked off, as a mob chased after him.

Mnar Adley, the founder and director of Mint Press News, claimed that the man had "opened fire" at the mob which she said "marched peacefully down the streets in Minneapolis."

A spokesperson for the Minneapolis Police Department told The Messenger that one witness claimed to have heard the sound of a gunshot, but no gunshot injuries or injuries from the driving incident were reported.

At the protest, one pair of men on a four-wheeler were seen waving the Hamas flag through the streets. Hamas has killed over 1,400 people in Israel since October 7, when the Palestinian terrorist group invaded the country, taking hundreds hostage as well.
