MP claims his colleagues did not read legislation that granted Trudeau extraordinary power

Reid said that "The House agreed to buy a pig in a poke" when discussing the bill. Reid was so concerned about the passing of this emergency power legislation that he drove to Ottawa to vote despite being barred from doing so by the CPC.

“Panic is never, ever an excuse to override our ancient political conventions ... These conventions are the oldest and best protections that exist for our political liberties.”

Reid was referring to an attempted re-allocation of power by the Trudeau government, which would have made parliment irrelevant for two years.

The Liberals wanted to be able to rise, cut taxes, and spend without any opposition for two years. This would have given unprecedented power to a peacetime government.
