NEW: Joe Biden DENIES proclaiming Easter Sunday trans visibility day: ‘I didn’t do that’ — (he did)

"I didn't do that," Biden said in response to a question about his signing of the proclamation designating Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility. This comes after backlash over the issuance of the designation which angered Christians in the United States.

Biden went on to accuse House Speaker Mike Johnson of essentially lying when the Speaker called the President out over the proclamation, which overshadowed the White House response to Easter, the holiest day on the Christian calendar. Biden said Johnson was "thoroughly uninformed."

Johnson pointed out the proclamation to the president, asking "This you, Joe Biden?" And indeed it was.

These remarks came as President and First Lady Biden celebrated the annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House lawn.

In 2022, Biden marked the day by telling American parents to go along with their children's wishes for a sex change if that's what their children wanted.

White House Press Sec Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the proclamation as well, saying that any backlash over the date of Transgender Day of Visibility overlapping with Easter Sunday was "misinformation."

"So surprised by the misinformation that's been out there around this and I want to be very clear: every year for the past several years on March 31, Transgender Day of Visibility is marked," she said. She noted what everyone knows, which is that holidays that are on a specific date and around the same time of year as holidays that are designated differently may fall on the same day.

"And as we know, for folks who understand the calendar and how it works, Easter falls on different Sundays, right, every year, and this year it happened to coincide with Transgender Visibility Day. And so that is the simple fact. That is what has happened. That is where we are.

"And I do want to say a couple of things because I think it's important here. As you just stated in your questions, what we've been hearing out there, a lot of misinformation done on purpose," she said.

"And as a Christian," she continued, "who celebrates Easter with family, President Biden stands for bringing people together and upholding the dignity and freedoms of every American.

"Now, sadly, and it's not surprising, right? It is actually unsurprising that politicians are seeking to divide and weaken our country. With cruel, hateful and dishonest rhetoric. It is dishonest, what we have heard the past 24 hours it is untrue. What we heard over the weekend," she said.

Biden's White House issued posts on X marking the trans holiday, but only on English-speaking accounts. He did not press the issue with Spanish-speaking voters. The White House also forbade children participating in the Easter Egg design contest from using religious imagery in their designs. The contest has been around since 2021, however the ban on religious imagery comes from the American Egg Board and has has been in effect over multiple administrations.

On this day, Biden said, "we honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives."

He said that he is "proud" that his administration has "appointed transgender leaders to my Administration and to have ended the ban on transgender Americans serving openly in our military. I am proud to have signed historic Executive Orders that strengthen civil rights protections in housing, employment, health care, education, the justice system, and more. I am proud to have signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law, ensuring that every American can marry the person they love."

Transgender Day of Visibility was invented by a trans person who heads Transgender Michigan and is one of dozens of days, weeks, and months allocated to trans and LGB etc. persons throughout the year.
