Dr. Brian Nadler has been freed on $10,000 bail on Monday after having been charged with murder in the first degree in the death of one of his patients.
Under the conditions of the bail agreement, he is not allowed to practice medicine of any kind, he cannot change addresses or leave Canada, and he may not contact anybody related to the Hawkesbury Hospital where he worked.
According to CTV News Ottawa, the Ontario Provincial Police continues to investigate several deaths at the Hawkesbury Hospital which they have deemed to be suspicious, and further charges could be pending depending on what they discover.
However, the investigation could drag on for the next several months as evidence is gathered and analyzed.
The first-degree murder charge levied against Nadler stems from the death of Albert Poidinger, aged 89 years at the time, of Pointe-Claire, across the Quebec border. Poidinger died on Mar. 25 2021 while admitted to the Hawkesbury Hospital. Nadler was charged the next day with Poidinger's murder. He then appeared in court on Apr. 6 2021.
Nadler and his lawyer continue to maintain his innocence, and insist there was no wrongdoing related to Poidinger's death or the death of any other patient at that hospital.
