View on XOn a statement on Facebook, O’Toole went after what he perceived as Trudeau’s weak leadership. “Trudeau made it clear he has no plan to stop the spread of the virus that has shut down other western countries,” said the CPC leadership candidate.
O’Toole then outlined what he believed the government should do during the crisis—including killing flights from countries with a high rate of infection, mandating a 14-day self-isolation period for travellers, and expanding employment insurance so to alleviate the fiscal struggle of quarantine.

View on YouTubeO’Toole also attacked Trudeau’s coronavirus package. The "$500M to the provinces and territories does nothing to prevent the further spread of COVID19 in Canada," he said. "That's only about $38M each. Meanwhile, Trudeau is giving $50M in international aid for COVID19 instead of making sure our people are taken care of at home first."
This statement comes after Justin Trudeau’s Wednesday press conference where he announced $1 billion in funding across Canada to help deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Amongst other things, this money will go towards health care funding and research for a vaccine.
