A 78-year-old great granddad was arrested Tuesday by Ottawa Police for honking in support of the Freedom Convoy truckers in the nation’s capital city.
As detailed by Toronto Sun journalist Joe Warmington on Twitter, the 78-year-old, who has been identified as “Gerry,” suffered cuts and bruises while in police custody after he honked his horn and was flagged for “unnecessary noise.”
The full, four-minute video was first uploaded on YouTube and shows the man being pinned to his car by the police officer after he tries to walk away.

“Is honking a horn and a thumbs to a trucker a right like 78-year-old great grandfather named Gerry did in Ottawa before being forcefully arrested by [Ottawa Police] - leaving him with cuts, bruises [and] an arm he can’t fully lift? Is that sunny ways? Or not tolerating certain people?” Warmington asked Justin Trudeau, who took to social media to state that the truck drivers do not have the right to protest.
As noted by Warmington, the police cited Gerry for "unnecessary noise."
