On Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregorie Trudeau will both be receiving the first dose of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.
The Prime Minister's itinerary states that the pair will be getting their shots at 12:45 on April 23, in Ottawa.
A tweet from Trudeau stressed that the "best vaccine for you is the first one that's offered to you," which is why they chose to get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

View on XHealth agencies in Canada have been keeping a close eye on the AstraZeneca vaccine after reports came out of Europe linking the vaccine to rare blood clots. Earlier in the month the Public Health Agency of Canada reported its first instance of the clots in a woman from Quebec.
The vaccine is currently not recommend by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization for those under 55, where the rare instances of clots are happening in primarily younger women.
The Trudeaus previously had to isolate in March 2020 when Gregorie Trudeau tested positive for coronavirus.
According to CTV, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh received his first vaccine on Wednesday, and Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole will receive his over the weekend. Additionally, Health Minister Patty Hajdu will be receiving an unspecified dose of the vaccine on Friday.
