Pro-life activists arrested in DC for chalking sidewalk

The pro-life activists protest outside of Planned Parenthood every week, they say, and this week they scrawled "black pre-born lives matter" on the sidewalk in chalk. Police asked them to stop their peaceful protest, and when they did not, two young people in "black pre-born lives matter" t-shirts were taken into custody.

An officer approached, and said "Hey folks, I need to tell you that if you continue chalking, you’re going to be placed under arrest for defacing property."

The chalk-writers refused to desist, prompting the officer to say "I’ve given you you’re warning. You understand that, right? If you continue chalking, you’re going to be placed under arrest."

Other pro-life activists spoke out against the arrest while it was happening, and were noticeably shocked by the arrest, but they did not physically try to stop the officers from doing their duty, as many Antifa militants are known to do.

A supporter wearing a face mask can be heard to say "So we are peacefully gathered here in front of Planned Parenthood in Washington, DC, and we have students and African American protesters that simply have gathered and we began to write on the sidewalk with chalk, as many of these young people do all the time 'black pre-born lives matter,' and all of the sudden they’ve committed a crime.

"They do this every week. I come down here routinely to pray. I see people and they've never arrested anybody before, but today they're arresting people just because we have decided peaceably assemble and to stand for black pre-born lives.

"And so, what we’re saying today in the spirit of Frederick Douglas, who was a great abolitionist, there’s a new movement of abolitionists. This isn’t the abolition of slavery but this is the abolition of what we know is the greatest civil rights in our culture today and that is for pre-born lives."

DC Mayor Murial Bowser has authorized the painting of a large mural reading "Black Lives Matter" on DC streets leading up to the White House, and unlike chalk marks on sidewalks, those murals will not wash off in the rain.

Officers in DC have been vilified for clearing streets of protestors using tear gas and other non-lethal means of crowd control. These protestors went quietly to their fate.

Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was a known eugenicist who advocated for the destruction of black lives in the US. She felt that women must have the burden of motherhood removed from them, and her work on abortion advocacy was primarily in minority communities. She stated that "Enforced motherhood is the most complete denial of a woman's right to life and liberty."

Her statements on race have compelled Planned Parenthood's New York headquarters to remove her name from their building. However, one wonders if it's possible to remove the name and thereby remove the theories founding Planned Parenthood itself.

Sanger believed that eugenics was the answer for social ills. In 1922, six years after founding her first clinic, she wrote "We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all."

As a testament to Sanger's work and intentions, black women in America are provided with 36 percent of all abortions in the US, or 474 abortions for every 1,000 pregnancies among black women.
