The data breach of a crowdfunding web has revealed the identities of people who anonymously donated to fundraisers including one for Kyle Rittenhouse, with one Utah Paramedic being doxed by an ABC 4 reporter.
The Guardian reported on Friday on the data breach, revealing the names and workplaces of many of those affected by the breach, including Utah paramedic Craig Shepherd.
The Guardian reported that several of those revealed used official email addresses, bringing to question whether public resources were used to support the campaign.
Shepherd reportedly gave $10 to the Rittenhouse fundraiser on August 30, just 5 days after he shot two protestors in Kenosha, Wisconsin during Jacob Blake riots. Rittenhouse has traveled over state lines from Illinois to offer armed protection for businesses during the riots. Rittenhouse's murder trial has been pushed back to November 2021.
The article includes a photo of reporter Jason Nguyen at Shepherd's front door. Though no house number is revealed, many identifying markers are included in the photo.
ABC 4's report said that those inside the home of Craig Shepherd did not want to talk.
"We can confirm that Craig Shepherd is an employee of the West Valley City Fire Department. We have become aware of a donation made using his government email account. We are conducting an investigation into this matter, however, such a donation would be representative of personal actions and not those of West Valley City," West Valley City officials, where Shepherd lives, told ABC 4 in a statement.
Shepherd will reportedly not be placed on administrative leave while the investigation takes place.
