Quebec told to stay home as COVID cases surge

Contrary to the first wave, the province now reports that the entire province is feeling the effect of COVID, instead of just urban areas such as Montreal. Community transmissions now also make up the majority of cases, contrary to the first wave, which was focused on long-term care homes.

"This time is totally different, totally different," said Dubé. "It is very difficult to say where you got it."

He continues pleading with the public, "please don't take the risk, please don't test the hospital system... the nurses, the doctors, what they are asking you, what they are asking Quebecers is to please stay home."

Officials have updated their website, which focuses on contact tracing and testing. Quebec has seen 81,014 cases, with 5,899 deaths. Of those cases, 7,564 have been in the last seven days.
