It has come to public attention on Friday that the controversial Olympic athlete Gwen Berry has repeatedly tweeted many kinds of prejudiced tweets in the past.
She returned to the spotlight after several unsavory tweets of hers have surfaced Friday as Internet sleuths unearthed the decades-old posts from the Olympian.
"Berry has become one of the most outspoken leaders in the sport fighting to bring awareness to issues of social injustice in the United States," her personal bio touts.
However, Berry's possibly problematic tweets denigrated various people as groups, including white people, white women, white girls, Mexicans, and Chinese people.
As was first reported by reporter Natalie Winters at the National Pulse, Berry over the years has wrote on Twitter disparaging people of other races repeatedly. Here are some examples of what she thinks of "white girls" and white people as a race:
"This lil white boy being bad as hell!! I would smack his ass then stomp him!! Smh #whitepplKids hella disrespectful," she tweeted"> in 2011. Berry has also asserted that "white ppl" run"> their "damn mouths too much" and are "sooo retarded"> when they are drunk," among other"> unkind generalizations"> about the race.
The National Pulse has also revealed several other posts"> from the Olympic hammer thrower's Twitter account containing racist comments that run counter to the racial justice issues she purports to combat as an activist.
Here, she specifically targets Mexicans and Chinese people in her Twitter rants:
And here she had a couple questionable remarks she said about rape. The first comment, in particular, seems not to be in line with her "Activist Athlete" persona:
Also, it has been revealed that, contrary to recent claims by Berry, she has not "always" been opposed to the American flag and the United States national anthem. The 2015 photo shown in the below tweet shows her holding up Old Glory behind her while beaming at the camera.

View on XBerry is set to represent Team USA later in the month at the Tokyo Games after finishing in third place in the hammer throw at track and field trials last weekend.
During the evening session, Berry turned away from the American flag, facing the stands instead during the playing of the national anthem. Towards the end, she displayed an "Activist Athlete" t-shirt in opposition of the ceremonial tradition.
"I feel like it was a set-up, and they did it on purpose," Berry said of the timing of the national anthem. "I was pissed, to be honest."
In an interview with Black News Channel, she insisted that the national anthem is "disrespectful and it does not speak for black Americans."
