RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel says Trump still leads the Republican Party

"You know I always say, go back to the voter, and I think when you see the amount of people that show up to the rallies for President Trump, and this $102 million fundraising haul," she said. "I think voters in America — Republicans in America — would absolutely say the president's the most popular Republican and still leads the party."

McDaniel declared in January her intention to “remain neutral” within the party if the 45th President elected to run for office in 2024, as there were primary challengers on the Republican side.

"I’m not telling anybody to run or not run. That’s going to be up to those candidates running forward," she clarified. "What I really do want to see Trump do, though, is help Republicans win back majorities in 2022."

McDaniel told Cats Roundtable host John Catsimatidis, tellingly playing up many of the themes Trump stressed in the 2020 election. “Our country is at stake," she said. "It’s not just Democrat versus Republican. It’s Republican versus communism."

McDaniel added: "They want to take your freedom of speech away, your freedom of religion, our police. They are denigrating our country. They want to stack the Supreme Court, get rid of the filibuster. We won’t recognize America if we don’t win this next election," she said.

McDaniel then pivoted to talking about the Biden Administration’s track record in office in contrast to Trump, emphasizing “kitchen table” issues of border security and the economy.

"We had such a strong president, and now to have Biden do what he’s done with our borders [being] so porous, with inflation going up, everyone is paying more, your dollar is going far less than it used to," concluded McDaniel, "it is a catastrophe."
