Starbucks Canada to reopen most locations by the end of the week

The coffee giant issued an update on its reopening plan on Monday, as other businesses across the country struggle how to operate safely in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Global News.

The company has reminded customers that they will need to adhere to physical-distancing protocols, including wearing a mask when visiting any of the locations.

Starbucks staff will be required to wear masks, and gloves will be available.

Plexiglass shields will be installed at the cash register.

Before their shifts, employees will be required to have their temperature taken and use "Covid-19 Virtual Coach" to ensure they are able to work. But taking employee's temperature will not account for those who are asymptomatic, or those who have not been infected long enough for a fever to surface.

Customers will be able to make purchases on the Starbucks app and pick up their orders at the counter.

Starbucks Canada closed many of its locations in March when the viral outbreak took off, keeping only a few locations open around hospitals and healthcare centers, as well as drive-throughs.

In April, the company announced plans to reopen as many of its locations as they could by the end of May, saying that stores that were able to remain open had aided them in testing and refining the best ways to safely serve customers.
