Teen girls stabbed, one dead outside Park Slope, Brooklyn bodega

The tragic altercation occurred around 2:20 am when police responded to reports of an assault outside the Park Slope bodega. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the two teens with stab wounds – one to her chest and the other to her arm. The pair were rushed to the hospital, where the one with a chest wound ultimately died due to her injuries. The other girl remains in stable condition.

Law enforcement is currently looking for two male suspects who allegedly attacked the teenage girls after unsuccessfully trying to start a conversation with them, according to amNY. No arrests have been made at this time.

Adding to the chilling nature of the incident, the stabbing occurred outside the same bodega where a woman was caught on surveillance video executing her ex-girlfriend in a brutal attack in 2021, as reported by the New York Post.

This latest act of violence compounds the ongoing challenges facing New York City, which has seen a surge in crime in recent months. A recent shooting on a Brooklyn subway made headlines when a 36-year-old man was shot in the head with his own gun after provoking an altercation.

In the face of these grim statistics, Mayor Eric Adams has faced criticism for his response, with some accusing him of downplaying the severity of the situation.

Adams has continued to ignore the violence among his constituents and recently referred to New York City as the "safest big city in America," a statement that has drawn skepticism from residents.

“This is the safest big city in America. We are the best city on the globe, period. None of all that other stuff. It’s just maddening,” Mayor Adams said on Q104.3 FM on Saturday.
