Toronto Metropolitan Police have made a major seizure from a North York search warrant operation, finding large amounts of cash, various kinds of illegal drugs in quantity, and weapons, including a fully automatic submachine gun.
$40,000 in Canadian currency was found along with more than $120,000 worth of crystal meth, cocaine and MDMA (commonly known as "molly"), along with a submachine gun and two semi-automatic pistols and two magazines altered for higher capacity.
According to CP24, two North York locations were searched, as well as two cars at Beecroft Road near Sheppard Ave., and Silverdale Crescent near York Mills Road, respectively.
A Toronto man, aged 27 years and identified as Salim Slammy, was arrested at the scene of the search. He has now been charged with 15 offenses. Among them, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited firearm, all with multiple counts.
These findings come in the middle of rising public concern about crime in the Toronto area.
Anybody who has more information on the subject is encouraged to call the Toronto Police and/or Crime Stoppers.
