Trudeau government makes masks mandatory for plane travel

This is a rather abrupt change in policy for the Trudeau government, who until recently failed to see the benefit in the public wearing surgical masks. This misstep was due to heeding the advice of the World Health Organization.

It seems, however that wisdom has prevailed—as seen through Trudeau's admission that masks would help Canadians speaking "moistly" on one another.

As a result of this policy reversal, all those who attempt to board a plane without a mask will now be forbidden from boarding. This only pertains to planes: train and ferry travel will still allow you not to wear a mask.

Infants and children under the age of two are excluded from this legislation.

Speaking to the media, a government spokesmen said that "it is the passenger’s responsibility to have the appropriate face covering."

"Aviation passengers on all flights departing or arriving at Canadian airports will also be required to demonstrate they have the necessary non-medical mask or face covering during the boarding process otherwise they will not be allowed to continue on their journey."

Canada's mask measures are still relatively light compared to some American states. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland have all forced citizens to wear a face mask in public.
