Trudeau government refuses to give info on medical equipment shortages

The Conservative Health Critic Matt Jeneroux has been attempting to draw information from the Trudeau government, asking them: "Does Canada have the medical equipment and supplies to handle massive amounts of cases expected across the country ... how many beds are currently available for COVID-19 patients across the country?"

The Trudeau government, however, was not willing to highlight the extent of the shortage. Instead, they stated that the government had purchased nearly 2,000 ventilators and 55 million masks.

Another Conservative MP from Alberta said that he was "hearing concerns about the rationing of personal protective equipment and warnings about outright shortages in this country."

“This would lead to our front line workers being unprotected," he added.

The NDP heath critic, on the other hand, said that he was "disappointed in his answers. I asked you a very specific question of what the provinces told you their gaps were, and what the extent of those gaps are. I think Canadians have a right to know that information.”
