Trudeau's controversial ex-heritage minister Mélanie Joly spent nearly $10 thousand in taxpayer money on a party for a TV show in Hollywood.
The party itself was held at the Canadian consulate in Los Angeles in 2017, reported the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Despite the reckless spending, the TV show—called Mary Kills People—only made it to the third season.
Although the money was spent by Joly , the funding itself derives from the 'Mission Cultural Fund' which is operated by the department of foreign affairs.
"Hollywood is famous for parties, but it’s not clear why Canadian taxpayers should be forced to subsidize them," said the director of Canadian Taxpayers Federation.
"If politicians want to hobnob in Los Angeles, they should do it on their own dime," he added.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation were naturally disappointed with the government's willingness to fork out on glitzy parties. Perhaps foreseeing this reaction, the Trudeau government marked the expenses as "trade facilitation."
Earlier this year, Joly (who now serves as the Minister of Tourism) was recorded saying that her government was unprepared for the coronavirus outbreak.

View on YouTubeIn a recording presented to The Post Millennial, where Minister Joly was meeting with Destination Canada, she is heard saying that "none of us knew this would be coming and none of us were prepared to deal with a pandemic in our lifetimes."
The teleconference, where Joly was speaking, was carefully managed: all questions had to be submitted the night before and the minister only answered three questions.
The serving heritage minister is the ever-tendentious Steven Guilbeault, who in his short stint with the portfolio, has managed to irritate journalists, environmentalists and oil workers.
