EXCLUSIVE: Trudeau minister admits government was UNPREPARED for coronavirus

In a recording presented to The Post Millennial, where Minister Joly was meeting with Destination Canada, she is heard saying that "none of us knew this would be coming and none of us were prepared to deal with a pandemic in our lifetimes."

Despite this, Joly said that Canada's tourism sector was "the canary in the coal mine."

"I think we were hard hit first, and we saw it coming before everyone else. I think that we saw it through the fact that Chinese tourism was affecting some key provinces."

The fact that Trudeau's cabinet was so startled by the coronavirus outbreak may come as a surprise. Canada has experienced four pandemics in the 6 decades. Similarly, Dr. Theresa Tam previously said that Canada was a "low risk" country.

Going further than this, some Canadian medical experts said that Canada had "all of the necessities for widespread disease outbreak." The colossal demand for masks and ventilators in Ontario and Quebec now suggests that this was an exaggeration.

This was confirmed when Trudeau's Health Minister Patty Hajdu said that Canada "likely did not have enough" medical equipment ready ahead of the global coronavirus pandemic in Ottawa on Tuesday.

Joly's and Hajdu's statements seem to contradict some of the earlier remarks the prime minister made about coronavirus, saying that Canada was "prepared for a wide range of scenarios."

The teleconference with Joly was carefully managed: all questions had to be submitted the night before and the minister only answered three questions.
