Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet decided on Tuesday that they would allow the police to ticket illegal border crossers $1,000 or $100 if they are children, according to Blacklock's Reporter.
Earlier last month, the Trudeau government banned "non-essential" travel across borders with serious consequences for those who disobeyed this ruling.
All non-essential border crossers could face up to $200,000 in fines or six months in jail depending on the severity.

View on YouTubeSpeaking to reporters, Dr. Howard Njoo (who is Dr. Theresa Tam's deputy chief public health officer) said that "those who arrive in Canada must have an adequate plan.”
"We don’t want incoming travelers going into self-isolation with seniors over age 65," he added. "They have to demonstrate they have access to essential supplies such as food and medication."
Despite this, the government continues to offer surgical masks for incoming travelers alongside motel costs for those who have to go into quarantine. It is unclear how much this will cost the Canadian taxpayer.
