Trump attorneys meet with DOJ ahead of grand jury convening over Mar-a-Lago seized docs case

NBC News reported that three of Trump’s lawyers - James Trusty, John Rowley, and Lindsey Halligan - were seen at the Justice Department’s headquarters and met with department officials that did not include Attorney General Merrick Garland or Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence was raided by the FBI in August of last year. The former president has repeatedly maintained that he did nothing wrong and that the probe into him is part of a move designed to take him down. He soon thereafter reacted by initiating a lawsuit against the Biden-run federal government at the time, alleging in the US District Court in the Southern District of Florida that the treatment he has received is in violation of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

This news of the meeting comes after Trump attorneys John Rowley and James Trusty, both of whom were present for the DOJ meeting, penned a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland last month to ask for a meeting regarding the "ongoing injustice" of a probe opened by special counsel Jack Smith, who was tapped by the attorney general to specifically focus on investigating crimes that were allegedly committed by the former president.
