Twitter caves to pro-Antifa mob, erases ‘journalist’ before Andy Ngo’s name

Twitter featured Antifa’s attack on Ngo in their curated news column, referring to him, correctly, a journalist. However, a pro-Antifa virtual mob came after Twitter on Thursday and the social media network replaced the description in an act of appeasement.

Twitter updated their news headline to describe The Post Millennial’s editor-at-large Andy Ngo as an "author" instead of a "journalist."

Ngo released a statement on Wednesday detailing his attack by Antifa black bloc militants after nearly five days of silence on social media.

"No journalist in America should ever face violence for doing his or her job," Ngo tweeted Wednesday following the attack. "Yet on Friday, May 28, Antifa tried to kill me again while I was reporting on the ongoing protests and riots in Portland..."

On the one-year anniversary of Portland riots that commenced in the wake of George Floyd's death, Ngo was assaulted and chased into the downtown Nines hotel by an angered mob of Antifa radicals, shown by posts on social media.

"Had I not been able to shelter wounded and bleeding inside a hotel while they beat the doors and windows like animals, there is no doubt in my mind I would not be here today. Their words, like their actions, speak for themselves," Ngo tweeted.

Ngo was treated in the emergency room for multiple injuries to the head and body. Bloody gashes covered Ngo's hand and leg. The reporter's stomach was bruised and eye left bleeding. When he was last beaten by Antifa in 2019, doctors told Ngo that he could have died from the brain hemorrhage caused by the cerebral blows.

The prominent journalist called for fellow journalists to take a stand against attacks on members of the press, which is protected right under the United States Constitution.

"And I call on journalists and all those who believe in the First Amendment to join me in standing against the tyranny of those who use violence to terrorize, silence and suppress the truth," Ngo tweeted.

Members of the media across the US slammed Twitter’s outlandish decision to remove "journalist" from Andy Ngo’s description, defending The Post Millennial editor-at-large.

"Tech companies literally deciding who gets to be a journalist is a whole new level of creepy evil that I have no doubt will go widely unheralded," Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted, editor-in-chief of Daily Caller. "The funny thing is that it’s awfully rich for the likes of @ChuckModi1 to be calling @MrAndyNgo not a "journalist," Ingersoll added.
