A small plane crashed in south Florida shortly after takeoff Monday and erupted into flames as it smashed into a car carrying a mother and child, leaving them in serious condition.
The two people aboard were killed when the single-engine plane crashed shortly after 3 PM outside the North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida, located about 20 miles north of downtown Miami.
The incident was captured on video which showed the Beechcraft Bonanza crashing in a residential neighborhood, slamming into the car and skidding across the ground the bursting into flames. (Warning: Graphic Footage)
Anabel Fernandez who witnessed the crash told CBS, "We heard like a bomb, like a tremendous noise and everything was on fire and it dived into a car. I live right here. I walk with my babies every day. The plane could have got us all. I am in shock."
The woman and child inside the car were trapped, then freed by emergency responders and are listed in serious condition at a local hospital. Photos of the crash and Ring doorbellvideo footage showed the crash, the totaled SUV and wreckage scattered around the neighborhood.
The Pembroke Pines Fire Department said the pilot may have reported engine trouble but the cause of the crash is still unknown. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
