“Free fries when you get vaccinated? Um, I got vaccinated,” the mayor began. “You’re saying I could get these delicious fries? Wait a minute, but there’s also a burger element to this?”
“Let me check with Bill Neidhardt. Is it too early in the day to eat a burger?” He continued. “This could be breakfast. I want you to look at this and think about, again, some people love hamburgers, some don’t. I really want to respect all ways of life.”
“But if this is appealing to you just think of this when you think of vaccination,” said de Blasio, pointing to his meal from Shake Shack. “Mm. Vaccination. Mm. I’m getting a very good feeling about vaccination right at this moment.”
Under de Blasio, the city has teamed up with fast food chain Shake Shack to offer a voucher for a burger or sandwich for anyone who gets a shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at an NYC mobile vaccine clinic. Those who’ve already taken the shot who can show proof of vaccination can also get free fries with a burger or sandwich.
