WATCH: Doug Ford thankful Canada doesn’t have ‘systemic, deep roots’ of racism that the US does

A stand-out moment came when Ford was asked about the performance of US President Donald Trump, Ford said that he "honestly, don't have time to watch the news," saying that he was busy doing his best to protect the people of Ontario.

"They have their issues, there's no doubt, in the US. They have to fix their issues. It's like night and day, compared to Canada and the US. I'm proud to be Canadian, I'm proud to be the premier of Ontario, and I know Canadians just wont tolerate it. And I won't tolerate it. And I'm sure every person in this province won't," said Ford.

"Good luck to [Donald Trump,]. Hopefully they can straighten out their problems. Thank God that we're different than the United States, and we don't have the systemic, deep roots that they've had for years. You know, when I went down to the US, spent 20 years back and forth building a company down there, I said the difference between the US and Canada, for the most part, we get along. We all live beside each other," stressed Ford, comparing the two countries.

"It's night and day, believe me, when it comes to Canada and the US. I'm proud to be Canadian."

Regarding businesses and storefronts in the GTA covering up their windows with wooden planks, Ford said that Canada and the United States were "different," and that he supported Canadians rights to peacefully protest.

Ford credited the people of Ontario for protesting peacefully during previous demonstrations.
