WATCH: Poilievre says Trudeau threw Morneau under bus over WE scandal

"I have to admit, when I heard rumours that a Liberal law breaker in the cabinet was going to resign after a forthcoming third conviction under the ethics act, and for giving millions of dollars to people who had given him thousands of dollars of illegal gifts, I assumed it was Justin Trudeau," said the shadow finance minister.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland will be taking over the position of finance minister from Bill Morneau.

Prime Minister Trudeau was previously found to have violated ethics rules by Canada's conflict of interest and ethics commissioner, Mario Dion; once when the prime minister accepted a vacation on the Aga Khan's private island, and the second time during the SNC-Lavalin scandal of 2019. The WE Charity scandal is expected to be the prime minister's third violation.

"[Justin Trudeau] personally intervened to direct $500 million to a group that had given his family $500,000."

Trudeau is currently under investigation under the ethics act. It is unknown whether any Trudeau cabinet member is under a criminal investigation by the RCMP.

Poilievre would go on to predict that the former finance minister would be found guilty of a third violation of the ethics act.

"Trudeau didn't want such a scandalous story. The reason that Trudeau has to invent this phony line about a policy difference is because he knows that if he fires Morneau for breaking the ethics act a third time for accepting free gifts from someone to whom he was giving government grants, then Trudeau himself would have to resign for exactly the same offenses."

Poilievre also criticized the prime minister for his corruption during a pandemic that has affected millions of Canadians.

"His top priority was to flow a half billion dollars to a group that had paid his family a half million dollars. His priority was stuffing millions of dollars into the pockets of his friends while Canadians suffer and while the deficit reaches seven times its previous record."

Poilievre said that if Morneau resigned over three convictions under the ethics act, that Trudeau should do the same.
