An off-duty North Las Vegas police officer fatally shot his daughter, then himself after a violent altercation with his wife and son, according to police.

The shooting happened just before 4 am on Sunday in the 2500 block of Perryville Avenue, in Las Vegas, Nevada, reported FOX 5 Vegas. When SWAT team officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman and her teenage son suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds outside of the family's home. The officers then discovered a female juvenile and adult male with fatal gunshot wounds inside of the residence.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated in a press release that the adult male suspect and the woman were married with two kids. The couple was involved in a fight that became physical when the suspect tried to shoot his wife. During the struggle, the suspect's son intervened, and both he and his mother were wounded. They managed to escape the house and call for help, but not before the father shot and killed his daughter and himself.

"Detectives also confirmed that the male suspect was an off-duty North Las Vegas Police officer," read the press release. This fact has led to online criticism, with neither of the official LVMPD and NLVPD Twitter accounts acknowledging the tragic event as of yet.

The identities of both the suspect and his daughter have yet to be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
