Chris Gallant, 37, was in multiple pictures to advertise "Mr. S Leather," a San Francisco sex shop that carries BDSM fetish gear, leather straps, and more, according to the New York Post. The pictures of Gallant in the bondage gear were up on the site from 2011 to 2020, but were later taken down, according to internet archives.
“The photographs are authentic and were taken during a private, consensual photo session involving Chris and his then-partner, with whom he was in a committed four-year relationship,” an attorney for Gallant, Sara Azari, said in a statement.
“Chris was also friends with the owner of Mr. S Leather, and the shoot was intended to be fun and personal, with the understanding that Mr. S could use select images in connection with certain products," she added.
Azari has been known to take on a lot of reputation cases involving sexual misconduct, including representing former Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) who resigned from Congress after multiple sexual abuse allegations were launched against him during his run for California governor.
“As Chris began considering a future in public service, he asked that the photographs no longer be used and that they be removed from the company’s website. Mr. S honored his request,” she said.
According to the outlet, there are other images of Gallant on gay pornography websites, although they are not associated with "Mr. S Leather."
Gallant has served in the National Guard since 2006, indicating that the photos were taken during his time of service. He has also served as a volunteer firefighter and has worked as an air traffic controller.
He is running against LaLota, who is also a US Navy veteran and has held the seat since 2022.
