Canada’s establishment media reveals its bias again

Democracy may die in darkness, but our establishment media thrives.

The Canadian Press Gallery has revealed its partisanship again today. They refused to create a mandatory disclosure for their federal grants and subsidies that they sought from the Trudeau government.
Blacklock's Reporter sponsored the motion that would've forced these outlets to become more transparent with the Canadian people, but they naturally rejected this. Democracy may die in darkness, but our establishment media thrives.
The motion was shot down Catherine Levesque of The Canadian Press, who said that the matter was "cleared up." Perhaps this may have to do with the fact that her organization petitioned the government for eye-watering amounts of taxpayer cash.
The Canadian Press Gallery is the capital of this country's stolid media establishment. Their respective outlets have sought millions from the federal government, asking the taxpayer to pick up the tab for their ailing businesses. It is out of embarrassment that they hide their lobbying and pleading. It's pathetic, really.
Before the invention of the internet, the Canadian Press Gallery would become misty-eyed at the mere thought of journalistic independence. Yet, as soon as Canadians could get their news from elsewhere, they saw no issue in taking millions from a program that only the Liberal Party supports. In other words, Canada's mainstream media now has a direct conflict of interest when they report on Canadian politics. Their jobs may not survive a Conservative victory.
As a result of this, it is hardly surprising that their reporting is so anti-Conservative. Everyone wants Canada to have a strong, independent media; right now, our establishment media provides neither.
