Canadians are paying the price for WHO’s failure and they must be defunded, replaced

The CCP coronavirus fumble was their test, and they failed.

Now, the rest of us are paying the price for that failure.

Every organization can be judged on how they do when a crisis hits. It’s easy to succeed when things are normal, so strength or weakness can be discerned when normality falls away. And we all saw what happened.

The WHO was focused above all on spreading the message of the Chinese Communist Party. Their advice was wrong, and then late, and then simply useless.

In mid January—despite doctors and journalists in China warning about the danger of the Virus—the WHO pushed the message China wanted, and claimed there was no evidence of person-to-person transmission.

Then, after it was obvious that person-to-person transmission was happening, the WHO pushed the new CCP message: Don’t ban travel from China.

The WHO claimed—falsely—that travel bans wouldn’t work, they warned of ‘stigma’ and pushed the idea of political correctness to defend China.

Meanwhile, the country that ignored the WHO the most—Taiwan—ended up doing the best, with the country still having a tiny number of cases.

Unfortunately, officials in much of the rest of the world listened to the false advice of the WHO, including here in Canada.

That advice led to the virus being imported into Canada, the United States, and Europe, cases that were initially seeded by travel from China – which wouldn’t have happened if the borders were shut.

Now, we are paying the price for the mendaciousness of the WHO, and the foolishness of our leaders who listened to them.

That price is being paid first and foremost in lives, and also in unprecedented economic damage. This makes it clear that the WHO cannot be trusted.

So, what do we do now?

The key is that an organization "like" the WHO is still important, but it must be an organization controlled by democratic nations, without China’s destructive and dangerous influence.

With US President Trump taking a good initial step in withholding US funds to the organization, the stage is set for a full defunding of the discredited WHO, and replacing it with an organization that only allows democratic nations to have control.

Canada must let go of our unhealthy obsession with corrupt foreign institutions like the WHO, because those institutions have failed us, failed the Canadian People, added to our vulnerability, and put us in danger.

The WHO cannot ever be trusted again, because they failed their biggest test in spectacular fashion. The WHO has been corrupted by the Chinese Communist Party, and only by replacing it can we ever hope to work with our democratic allies to prevent the next pandemic.
